Star Valley, a mile high mountain valley, green in the summer, white in the winter, with the Salt River Range to the east and the hills of Idaho on the west, begins 35 miles southwest of Jackson Hole.

Downhill ski slopes in the Jackson area are within easy driving distance, as well as Grand Targhee on the back side of the Tetons. Grand Teton National Park, 15 miles north of Jackson, can be toured as a day trip from Star Valley. The south entrance of Yellowstone is an additional 50 miles north, making Old Faithful a possible day trip as well.

Visitors can fly into the closest airport which is north of Jackson, into Idaho Falls or Pocatello, or into the largest airport in the area located in Salt Lake, a 4 hour drive from Star Valley. If you own your own plane, you can fly into Afton's airport or land at Alpine's air strip, both suitable for small aircraft only.

This is hiking, hunting, blue sky country with four golf courses (three on Star Valley Ranch), excellent schools, a modern hospital, and expanding businesses and services.
